Santa Monica (Spanish for ‘Saint Monica’) is a beachfront city in western Los Angeles County, California, United States. Situated on Santa Monica Bay, it is bordered on three sides by different neighborhoods of the city of Los Angeles. The climate is great, and Santa Monica is a famed resort town. Two of the most popular tourists sites are the Santa Monica Pier and Palisades Park atop a bluff over the Pacific Ocean.
Santa Monica is a great place for outdoor fitness. From the ocean to the and beach bikepath and bikelanes. There are many cycling clubs, roller hockey, beach volleyball, surfing (duh), and fitness clubs. The Santa Monica Track Club has many prominent track athletes, including many Olympic gold medalists. Santa Monica is the home to Southern California Aquatics and features many open and pool swimming options, and the Santa Monica Rugby Club.
